Very cool. What are the little dots at the bottom of the headlight lenses on the front car?

Thank you guys it was just for fun.

I found the model car on the "Champs-Elysées" Mercedes shop in Paris last November and was delighted to find the same color as the real one.

In fact the model on the front is equiped whith a black painted hard top and the real one is red.

I had to organise with the soft top of my pagoda for similar look on the photo and I'm happy the background is not very neat.

I will probably paint the hard top of the model one in red when I have time on a rainy day because
I don't want to paint the real one in black  ;)

Jonny B the little dots on the headlights are the fixation of the plastic headlights on the metal background and appear black because of sun reflection.

Cheers all

Fred,

And for those that don't read French

A photo session of the Pagoda with merits of the beaches and the sea as seen from behind would not hurt on this site. With or without a small model. You must have the only pagoda in New Caledonia, if I'm not mistaken???

Hi Flyair

I will answer with my bad english you must be used to now and I don't wan't to reopen recent wounds.

I will have pleasure taking some photos here with I hope nice front and background. I will publish soon.

Concerning our treasures here I know an olive green one which has been rebuilt by the local MB dealer and sold to a nice guy. He is member of the group but don't talk much.
There is a grey one but I haven't seen her since a long time. She was in medium condition and so was the owner but was running quite often.
By the way I hope both are well.
There's the dying "bordeaux" one still waiting what will happen in the future.
And I've been told another one is under restoration process but I didn't verify the information.

So if my red is added I count 4 or 5 pagodas in New Caledonia. We are about 300.000 people here do you think that's a good rate ?

Regards

Many thanks for the interesting facts about Pagodas in such a beautiful yet remote place. I think that the rate is definitely fine :) 1Pagoda per 50000 inhabitants isn't bad at all. Here in Poland I was told that about 60 Pagodas can be counted, which for 39 mln people is rather light, especially that we are next to Germany, the birthplace of our addictive treasures. However, due to nasty historical reasons, the first chance to own a Pagodas started only when they were already in the collection category (i.e. from 1990, after the wall collapsed. so to speak).

So, I take it that you will now work hard on getting us some nice photo-shots with palm trees, local beauties adorning your beautiful red car. ;)

Those are interesting statistics,  Here is Australia there are 25 million, there are 95 members with pagodas but there would be double that around so say round 200 gives us about 1 in 125,000

The figures for New Caledonia shows a high number of Pagodas per population. Interesting to see what UK and USA are.

I think we need some pictures of a Pagoda under the palm trees by the lagoon :P

There may be more than 200 in Australia. Here in Perth at least there are apparently 40 or so cars but only a couple of group members.

I think you are right, I was being too conservative, there are over 100 in Victoria alone, it could be 300 making the stats 1 in 83,000

I saw elsewhere on this site that the estimate for Pagodas  "in circulation" are in the range of 35000 if my memory is correct.

I bet the US, the UK and Germany account for the bulk of that number, and I would not be surprised that the rest of the world has no more than 3-4 thousand of them....

70% of production?  Sounds high to me, but what do I know.

Here is an article in Auto Motor und Sport from a couple of years ago that, at least as translated by Google, states that a little over 4,000 Pagodas are registered in Germany.

very interesting article. I am not that amazed that as many as 4000 Pagodas survived (actually I thought there would be more :)). I believe that W113 was a rather expensive car for European standards at the time and the market was narrower than in the US….

I am surprised however that as many as nearly 900 Citroens 2CV are still registered. Given their built "quality" this should be considered as an achievement ;)

George Henne must be laughing at this.  We did his one car in an 2-car illusion in Pagoda Style.  From the vantage point of Toronto Island, where there are no Pagodas, and no cars either. ;)

And here are my two Pagodas -- and luckily I only have to wash one of them!  :)
