Here are a few pictures of my ’66,  230SL pagoda at the “Mercedes Café” taken in Patagonia Arizona. Just a few miles of the border with Nogales Mexico, where I actually live.
“Mercedes” is a Spanish name, maybe the name of the lady owner of the restaurant.

Unbelievable...

Rene's car has even a "Hochtaunuskreis" licensing numberplate (HG = Bad Homburg; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_Homburg_vor_der_Höhe), my neighborhoud here.

I thought the license was from Hamburg….
I bought the car about 6 years ago to a lady from O’fallon Illinois, USA. Then imported the car into Mexico; and I kept the front license plate.
Yes indeed, it is very rare to spot a Pagoda in Mexico. I’ve seen just a few in Mexico City.
For many years, Mexico put restrictions on the importation of Mercedes Benz cars. They were considered as a luxury commodity.
Nowadays you can import with no restrictions, any collection car, 30 years or older; or for new ones, have Mercedes dealerships throughout the Country
