Cylinder Head Markings
« on: January 21, 2013, 17:15:30 »
Hi All,

Bored today and have the Pagoda at work with me (drove it here on a clear day and now its snowed so cant take it home)..

So have been trying to ascertain if my car is a matching numbers one... Not that it bothers me, but just 'so i know'

The engine number is correct as the one on the data card.

The cylinder head has 130 0163201 and then 280 SE/A.

I always thought that the SE/A meant that the head was from a Saloon model but the wiki says not

So how do I know if this is my original head?

The cylinder head marking only indicates the type of head that it is, it is not a unique serial number like you have on the engine. So unless there is a clear indication that a cylinder head is NOT original, such as through the type number (a type that was not installed during the period the car was built) or some other indication, or documentation with the car, it may not be possible to determine whether the engine is still wearing its original head. Others please chime in if I am missing somethng.
