Glove box

Can someone help me with installing my glove box. I have had it in and out a few times and each time I put it in I struggle to get the glove box in with out over extending the spring and breaking the the escutcheon around the arm to the door. I have a new escutcheon and don't want to break it, they are hard to come by.
Much appreciate any handy tips.......

Close the lid half way (45 degree), slide the left side with the hinge in first, then move it to the left to straighten the box and push it in.
Make sure that while you are doing this the wire from the lamp is still in the groove and the clip.

IIRC, I put the spring mechanism in after I had the box in place.

Great advice. I compressed the spring then tied it with a string to stay about 1/2 compressed. Took out radio and clock. Used contact cement to reattach all loose vinyl. Put on the new (hard to come by) Grommet. Installed glove box with door about half open. The I reached through the radio dash opening and installed the spring while opening the door to be sure it was in place. Then I cut the string and it was in for good.
Dash looking good now!!!
