Seat wheel touching Center Console?
« on: July 06, 2004, 13:49:06 »
Hello..
I was installing my seats today, and the Seat wheels on both seats to the inside are touching the Center wooden Console,it seems the seats are sitting low from the back! actually i cannot retract the seats??
Any remedies.

Thanks

The seats are not installed correctly.  The wheel to adjust recline should be next to the door.  I think you simply have the seats reversed.

My 1970 280SL has one wheel per seat.  The wheel is connected to a shaft in the seat back.  The shaft is mated to a gear on the other side of the seat.

Malek,

There's only one adjustment wheel on each seat and it should face outwards towards the door.

I actually need one of those. Do you have an extra?

Malek - could it be you have seats from another model Mercedes? My seats definitely have only one knob and it's on the door side, not the inside.

Thanks everyone. I do have the right seats, but Beliveing in Mercedes-Benz exellence led me to belive that there were 2 wheels on each seat?? I had non when I took delivery of the car last year, Now I can get on with finalising the restoration, the car is looking wonderful.
The leather and seat pads came from GAHH, and where easy to install and fit like a glove (Photo attached
Douglas, I obviously have extra seat wheels now. I bought them from Miller, and you are welcome to one, but I need to check the shipping cost to you . (mail service in Lebanon is non-existant)
Thanks again.. you guys are great

Mal,

The front/rear slide adjustment handle belongs next to the transmission tunnel on each seat.  In your photo, they are reversed.  I hope you did not put unnecessary holes on the new GAHH leather!
