Rust Color Soft Top
« on: February 15, 2013, 23:28:29 »
We recently installed a rust color soft top on a customers car. The car is green with a bamboo interior and the customer wanted the soft top to match the interior. What does everyone think about this color?

I think it looks pretty good.  May not work with other exterior colors but it does with green.

ctm14 is right… this is a very classy combination, especially if the color of interior skins are matching with the top, which they seem to do very well.

Without excessive generalization, the car looks like a British classic: British green and rusty top. Great realization.

I think it looks great new but as it ages, the fold marks, crease lines etc will stand out... A dark hood is always best.

I think it looks great. The very first 230SL I ever looked at back in '65 over in Germany was this color combination with cognac interior. I went with 050 when I finally bought mine a few years later but still liked the tan top, wrinkles and all. I will have to say, this color (rust) looks a bit darker then what was originally offered.

Looks great, I have seen even other color tops that work well with certain colors, Blue on Silver, Dark Red on Silver, Tan on Blue.

I think it looks good also. Green appears to be able to go with varying coloured tops.  In my case with my 280SL in Olive Green went well with a tan top.

I think it looks very good.  Of course, I may be prejudiced -- here's my car (cognac interior)

Beautiful! Great color combinations and and like I said in an earlier post, exactly like the first Pagoda I ever sat in. BTW, I see you are from Rolling Hills. Back in 1964 I was a box boy at the Safeway (I think it is a Pavillions now) up in the shopping center there and that was where I saw my very first 230SL. It was love at first sight :) thanks for posting.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I personally love this color with the green. The reason why I shared this picture is because in the past month I have sold about 5 of these rust color tops for w113 cars. This is the only customer who sent me a picture and I just wanted to share it with everyone and see what everyone's thoughts were. I myself really like a personal touch on a car. What I mean is something that might not be original but since its my car and I get to enjoy it for 365 days a year I am going to build it so I enjoy looking at the car as much as I do driving it.
