Doug,
I did this about 7 years ago. My car went overland to Baltimore then by car carrier to Bremerhaven and then overland from there to N Germany i used a forwarder that I would recommend - if she's still in business. She was running a husband and wife company after her husband had died. Given the proliferation of US cars being imported these days, though, I imagine the Internet and cars magazines will be full of such companies offering the same service. They're all offering the same thing on a few ships. I imagine you're just paying for levels of care along the way. Eg, depending on the state of the car, ie concours or driver, and how much money you want to spend the options are to ship as a normal car on a car carrying ship, or pack in a container.
I thought the prices were quite reasonable.
I'm away at the moment but if you can't find someone you want to use I can pass on the details of the lady who set it up for me. She was very personable and lovely, but wasnt really a specialist. So back to money again. I was on a budget.
