Farah Fawcett Car?
« on: March 10, 2013, 02:29:22 »
Does anybody know anything about this car?  It has the group's sticker.  Definitely different.  That's all I'll say.

No doubt it is….different. And for that reason, if shown in Research & Development chapter, it would be one of the top winners ;)

I would even push further the question whether there is somebody knowing more about the car…. I would like to know who did all that bad things to the car. Besides taste, I find that with all the money visibly spent on the car, there results are looking cheap at certain places.

And most amazingly, with all those modern adds-on - unless I missed something - I am surprised that the windows remained mechanical.

For me, Farah Fawcett or no Farah Fawcett, this car is worth around 30-35K from where it stands tops.

I can "swallow" many modifications the owner did, what is really killing me is the stupid @ss black cheap HU, the bling rims, the steering wheel and the mirrors (Jag?).
The undercarriage thing is pretty alarming, lifting the car from "the wrong place" wont cause this unless it is already rotten.

A lot of wrongs are also there in the paintjob and other areas. I feel this car is full of bondo.

This gave me an idea though, whenever my car is done, I will buy few vintage playboy magazines for Pamela Andersen and claim it was hers and boost the price to $120k  :P

We don't know that it is Farah Fawcett's car.

We are told by this owner that

the previous owner told hold him that

his dentist told him that the car was owned by Farah Fawcett.

Maybe, the dentist was trying to put the bite on him.

If it was Farrah's car , I bet you it didn't look like it does now during her ownership of it...... ::)

It wouldn't surprise me, not all movie stars are known to have good taste. ;)

The most worrying thing is the Pagoda SL Group sticker. It means that (one of) the former owner(s) is/was a member here... and knows this car and can fill us in on the details...
1970 280SL. System Admin of the site. Please do not mail or PM me questions on Pagoda's... I'm not likely to know the answer.  Please post on the forum instead!

Jeez - although the side vents (300 SL style) was considered in the design phase, they really look out of place, same with all the wood inside and those bling rims. Yikes...
But Farrah was a hottie though, they don't make women like that anymore either...

I think Farrah  had better taste than that. She is probably rolling over in her grave. This car is the automotive version of Joan Rivers, all bondo and nip and tucks

I did find a reference to Lee majors possibly owning a 280SL that was green so by marriage it could be called hers as well. If you notice the paint code tag it shows code 291H (Dark Olive) and there are traces of green paint on the tag.  Regardless the modifications appear to be from a later time except possibly the woodwork and AC which look period to the late 70's.

I initially thought that the colour was black and not matching the paint code but when you get to the later photos the dark green does start to show.  I had a Dark Olive and in some light it looked almost black.
