Last drive this year with the HT on.
« on: June 09, 2013, 20:57:21 »
We had planned on taking the HT off yesterday and stowing it away for the rest of the year, but it was so unseasonably hot (105f, 41c) we decided against a drive. Today was much cooler (80f,27c) thanks to some nice cool breezes early this morning that developed over the Pacific so we jumped in the car and headed up into the mountains where it was still warmer as the breeze had not pushed it's way up the hill. Still a very pleasant drive and the car ran flawlessly. Next weekend we go topless, the car that is :D

BTW, the angle of our driveway tends to play tricks with the car's suspension as is evident in this picture. It actually is very level on a flat surface :)

Thank Rolf, your SL looks mighty sharp too. I have had a love affair with these cars  since 1965 and thoroughly enjoy meeting so many like minded folks such as yourself. Welcome to our forum and enjoy you new "Toy" :)

John,

it is great to read that the reason to keep or remove the HT is the excessive heat. Here in Northeast Europe is just the opposite: HT is only for colder days, although when it gets really cold and rainy, most of us keep the car indoor, so it doesn't matter where the HT actually is.
Your Pagoda looks very nice and the background only enhances the beauty of the scene :)

Thanks Stan,
We usually put the HT on in December as it gets pretty cold during winter. Snow and salted roads are not a problem here so we often have the opportunity to take a drive on those chilly days. We usually stow the top in early spring after it's annual tune up but have been a little late this year. That was one of things I always loved about this car, it was like two cars in one :)
