Storage Ideas For Hardtop?
«
on:

It is finally summer here in Portland, Oregon and I can take my hard top off! I am interested in storage ideas or devises for my Hardtop. I have seen some home made roll around devises which would work for my daylight basement which is where I keep my hardtop leaning against a wall. Anyone have any plans for such a design? Interested in reading what you have to say.
Thanks!

I purchased one of those from the manufacturer with cover $200- including shipping to Canada works like a charm.

if you type either "hardtop stand" or "hardtop storage" in the search window, it will return with several posts that maybe of interest to you. This is one of the "evergreen topics" as every member encounters this issue at least once in his Pagoda life.
Have a look for ex at

I just found out that, at least where I live, I use my Pagoda almost exclusively in late spring till early autumn, so once you have dispose of the HT, it would stay on the stand most of the time. Once you have the idea that you may want to put it back, iy just happens that you cannot get hold of they other person that is needed to properly reinstall it. In the end it remains where it is

I bought my stand and cover from
www.rockauto
a couple of years ago. Checked today and their price( stand only was $87 + shipping). Does the job just fine. Got back from a week up in Seattle last week and only saw the sun for a couple of hours. Glad to hear the sun in shining in Portland:-)

I just ordered a cart from Ecklers. (was performance products)
http://www.ecklersmbzparts.com/hardtop-storage-cart.html
it comes with a cover for the top. They honored my MB club discount so basically no shipping charge.
It is supposed to arrive Friday.
Finally no longer have to lean the top against a wall. (even though it was stored that way for over 30 years)

There was an article on different methods of how members stored their hardtops in the German Pagoda World magazine.
Several made brackets on the wall and tilted the top to stand out of the way and off the floor. Others have the pulley system.
Others put them in basements or in my parents case(back in 1968) in a large closet within the house.
Be creative.

I have a fairly full garage with numerous toys and a low ceiling so to me floor space is at a premium. I made a pulley system to hang from ceiling but that really cramped my space considering the room for the pulley and hook and height of hardtop. The best solution for me was to make a shelf approx 3' high and place the hardtop on it leaning against the wall (as high as possible before hitting the ceiling). I then strap it to the wall with a piece of rope so it doesn't fall. My daughter and I take it down or put it up with marginal effort.

I made a rack to put my top on in my basement. Pretty simple and easy to use. I lower it down when removing or placing the top on the rack then just raise it up. I really don't plan on using the top so it just stays in the basement.

I received the cart from Eckers. It was pre assembled.
Set it up, put the top the cart, installed the cover. Perfect.
The rollers even have locks on them to prevent the cart from rolling once you have it where you want it.
About as easy at is gets.
