replace the harness in the 250 SL
« on: July 06, 2013, 03:14:51 »
Is there any difference between a 230 SL and a 250 SL wiring diagram. I see that Rdode Island wiring sells an electrical harness for a 230 SL but not a 250 SL. I need to replace the harness in the 250 SL(European model) that I'm restoring.

They are very similar but may not be exactly the same. One thing I've found is the harness coming from the center instrument cluster has pins in it that are not always the same size as the 230 or the 280. I've been in a few heated discussions about this regarding the fact their are three different ones when experts swear there are only two.
'' Yeah, well I've seen three different types. Large and small pins are the most common but there's a third type that's an intermeadiate size. ''

This usually results in comments about the parts books or EPC says........ ::)

Remember that RI harnesses are just wires and jackets, no pins or connectors.  It is a lot of work to install them.
