The man who is restoring the body of my car(Rich Ollah) just sent me a picture of the installation of my front fender. He studied pictures of an original car and copied the spot weld pattern and bracket welds exactly as they were supposed to be. Another couple of days and the shell will be done. Then it's off the Detroit for E-coat epoxy primer.

Everything can be duplicated, however, very little escapes the trained eye of a good judge .... Here comes the Judge! ~ Grin ~

Rick is great to deal with and being a car guy himself he understands that things can only be done one way to be right. He had studied photos of original unmolested cars and id doing everything he can do to put it back the way it should be.  He has a massive frame bench in his shop and has constructed fixtures to hold the car in place while all the welding and cutting is done.

Check out the original "crappy" tack welds on the coolant overflow tank stand.

Your original tank support welds actually look pretty good compared to mine. MB didn't try to make their engine bays works of art, that's for sure with paint runs, sloppy welding etc. Now as for the exterior of the car, that is another story
