Ignition tumbler removal

Any body know how to remove the tumbler on '68 W111? It is the later style with the square plastic surround and is installed at a slight angle.

If you have the blue book for that chasis it will show you how how to take it out,

On my W126  300SD, You have to turn the key to position 1 and put in a thin wire which releases what ever inside and the whole tumbler-comes out.
I just replaced both ignitions on my 82 and 83 300SD's last year.

I am typing this from memory which is bad. Getting old.
So you need that blue book.
It is really easy to replace.
Recommendation: replace the whole piece. The key part and the rest of the ignition because it is getting old.
You remove the instrument panel And steering wheel (makes it easier) then you can see that whole staring mechanizim.
I have done this a number of times and if you take your time it is easy.
Get that blue book.

Good to hear from you again!

I do have a blue book and thanks for the tip. I should have looked in there first I guess. The BBB normally doesn't have much in the way of interior stuff, good to know that is in there.

If I can take a moment, I will check my blue book and inform you what section it should be in.

Also on the 27MM crankshaft bolt, the one I use is put the transmission in gear.
Watch out though, to untighten the bolt (Counter clockwise) Put transmission in D or R. I forgot which one.
In a manual transmission 1st or reverse.
When tightening the bolt (Clock wise) Do the reverse of what you did to take it out.
You have a W111 my W126 is a 5 cylinder Diesel and I have to torque that bolt to just below 300 foot lbs.
I use a 3/4 inch 3 foot long torque wrench which goes up to 300 foot lbs.

 After 2 or 3 times (Like me many times) it is a piece of cake.
