Intersting Contrast
« on: April 28, 2013, 10:48:35 »
It was a beautiful Melbourne (Australia) autumn afternoon so I took the old 230SL out for a quick spin, - as usual even a short drive never fails to put a smile on my face.  For those of who know Melbourne, the photo was taken at the top of the Kew Boulevard near the walk down to the bridge over the Yarra to the Fairfield Boat House.   I like the contrast of the old classic car and the new bikes in photo.

(PS I'm aware the head restraints are not 230SL but they were there when I bought it and in some respects I don't mind the look.)

cheers

A beautiful car! My family briefly lived in the Research/Eltham area.

Gary,

Great photo and looking good.  Weather has been perfect for those drives in the Autumn.  I think I will take mine out for a run ;D

Thanks for the complimentary comments.  It’s interesting that someone in the USA has lived in the Eltham/Research area – it’s a lovely part of Melbourne and on the doorstep of some magnificent drives in the Yarra Valley and beyond.

The car’s looking good and running well but still needs to have a few mechanical issues sorted this winter.

On another note, I’m always curious about the slanted headlights and often when I look at mine I wonder if they are correct or uneven (particularly in this photo).  Is there an easy check measure to confirm the slant is correct and equal?

regards

Beautiful colour Gary  :)

I'm having trouble deciding what mine will be, whats your Mercedes color codes for both exterior and interior ? Is that Ivory ? Looks a bit more yellowish..hmmm

Best wishes, Joe

PS. I know that road well, I live in Eaglemont, not far from there. Used to ride my bicycle up there to on the way to the city !

Could be Light Ivory. It looks more white in the bright sun and more 'yellow' towards dusk.
