Look what we stumbled across whilst out walking in France...
« on: September 07, 2013, 08:12:53 »
A genuine Back to the Future DeLorean. The owner was nuts, a bit like the chap in the film, and a really charming chap. He converted himself. It is - apparently - the only Back to the Future DeLorean in France. Found him and his car in some tiny hamlet in Bas sur Aube region of champagne out walking the dogs. Unfortunately, my boys were to young to savor the moment having never seen the film.

He said it needed a clean.

These cars now (without the time-travel mods) now sell for between £10-20K. I think they have a great 80s look to them. The crazy Frenchman said that the Volvo-Peugeot-Renault engine mounted on a Lotus chassis was not great.  ::)

The wiki entry for these cars makes interesting reading if you have 5 mins of your life to waste.

Thanks for posting James. He must get plenty of looks driving around like that. Probably similar to when I take the Earl Camino, anothe rstar of the silver screen, for a drive in the French countryside.

James--don't know how old the boys are, but the movie is great fun.  First is better than the (yawn) sequels 2 and 3.  Worth a look before they get too old!

Already bought them on fleabay. But it will be a while yet. On the age front, you can see the youngest in one of the pics. He's 2!

Sure!  It's fine to drive that contraption around Europe, but you can't have all red tail light lenses on your '66 Pagoda.  ???

Well, I guess the owner simply travels back to pre-Sep 1965 to get his car its MOT!

The benefits of time travel. Note to self: must complete work on the flux capacitor! (And the rear lights, and the exhaust manifold....!)

On a lighter note - and I could use a laugh - try this for size: http://www.thepoke.co.uk/2013/04/26/unfortunate-publishing-layouts-of-our-time/
