Transmission linkage
« on: August 21, 2013, 21:07:08 »
I just pulled our 280sl out of multi-year (17 to be honest) heated storage and on my second selector change the automatic transmission linkage slipped off the shift pin.  On closer inspection I see the fiber bushing (both ends) deteriorated allowing the shift rod to slip off the bushing and stud.  Short of fabricating these bushings are vendors who might have these parts?

Best regards,
Ed

Hello Debi,

How did you ever find your way to this site with a 2002 MB?  Advice may be a long time coming since these guys all own vintage MB SLs from the 60's and 70s.  Try "The Benz Forum" or "Peach Parts" for your model. I see your a "Buckeye" as am I.  In regards to your problem, I do not know for sure but most likely an adjustment is at one end of the cable or the shift rod.

Good luck!
