Rust repair
« on: November 19, 2013, 23:07:27 »
I have a 65 230 SL that i acquired last year and have finally succeeded in getting it running. A major accomplishment I assure you.

I am going to have the rust removed/replaced and have a great guy willing to do it. He identified the parts needed for replacement (I have them identified on the attachment). Before I start trying to acquire, can't you offer any advice on best way to go about it?

Jim

congrats on getting it running.  If you are asking about how or where to purchase the parts you should read about this supplier suggested by one of our members in Poland.  Best of luck ... take photos of the progress and post them here.

Also...the folks who printed the piece that your technician (K&K Mfg) used as a parts guide are listed in the supplier's section as well...

I have not done business with them myself but many here have. Just another option. They are in Sparta, Michigan.

I can second checking with K&K.

I have used them for many items and have always been satisfied with the service and knowledge of the sl.

Jim,
I can confirm that Kris Kulinski, the Warsaw based supplier (who is also producer of these parts) is top class. He sells these parts worldwide. Besides body skins and underbody elements he also makes chromed parts and many minor articles, such as ashtrays, fuel caps etc.
Let me know, if you need a help in dealing with him.

One of the downsides of a knowledgeable public forum is that my secret supply chains keep getting exposed!!!

Stick,

;D I cannot even generate any sorry feeling inside me for what you said ;D

I thought that you sell the added value in the form of software, i.e. advice, knowledge, quality and reliability. The hardware is passé ;)
