Hot-Spark or Pertronix ignition
« on: December 02, 2013, 20:55:21 »
I want to remove my points and install an in-distributor hall-effect system.  I have found and read quite a bit about Pertronix on this forum but have found very little about Hot-Spark.  It seems a few folks on this forum have the Hot-Spark and it would be great to hear some feedback.

The car is a 250sl, manual shift with an 051 distributor.

thanks

I installed a Hot-Spark kit on the 051 distributor of my 230SL a month ago. Installation was very easy and up to now it's working flawlessly but I've done very little  mileage since.

I installed the Pertronix unit in my '67 250SL as well as in my Porsche 911 and they are terrific value and work perfectly. Simple to install but you might need to reset your timing if the mounting plate needs some adjustment.

Hot Spark in an 009 distributor.
No modification required like Pertronix in the advance plate area.
So far so good.
