Re: Car Valuation

I have been reading the threads about insurance. I have a 1971 280 SL that I have insured for $25K with Auto Club 'Classics'. I know it is worth far more than that. I don't think that I can just tell the insurance company what I think it is worth.  My question is - does anyone know where in So. California I can take it to get it appraised. It would think it would have to be someone that is authorized by insurance companies in order for them to accept the appraisal. Thanks, Chumps

Chumps,

My insurer relies on Photos and NADA guides without a local appraisal...

I think you will better off with using an insurance company that specializes in classic cars. They can help with value and if you have a loss it wont effect your homeowners. I have heard positive comments from those that chose the antique car coverage when they had a loss and much less so from traditional companies. I use hagerty and a good friend has had two fairly large claims (with Hagerty) and they were great to deal with. My guess if he had the two claims a regular policy he would of been dropped.
