R20 Fuel Injection Pump oil level
« on: June 05, 2018, 10:02:58 »
Hi there!

I tried to find some information about the correct oil level in the governor of R20 injection pump. Without bigger luck though, that's why I started a new topic.

I know this pump regulates the oil flow and level by itself (no dipstick). I'm asking about it, because it seem to be too high in my pump. When I compare it with older R11 dipstick version, it's at least 6cm higher than the groove on the dipstick.

I'm experiencing low oil pressure (described in my other post), and after studying the oil passages I think it might be related.

Has anyone ever noticed the actual oil level on these later 280 pumps governor section?

I suppose it's possible that the drain hole is plugged. Only way to see that would be to remove the pump and look.
