Looking to buy a low grill 280SE convertible

I know I'm not the only one, but I'm very serious and willing to make a more than fair offer on a w111 cabriolet with good substance, even if it needs work.

Thanks, Tom

Thank you sir. I sent him an email. I'm guessing it's "already" sold :-)...

Either that, or it's the one pictured on his web site...

Hi, Tom,

Good luck, and if you stumble across a reasonably priced and solid w124 convertible in your search let me know! ;D

Best,

James

James ...,

Why? :o
Are you tired of your beautiful 230 SL?
Or are you just now looking for a RHD Mercedes convertible in addition to your 113.

Are you back in England now?

Best,

What would you consider reasonable?  I glanced at one last week as the wife is asking for a convertible (she doesn't drive the 113).  I am 90% sure I am not going ahead with it.

highlights  below $10K, black ext / tan interior, soft top acceptable but has wear spots, approx 100k miles, black, claims service records etc.  Send me a PM if interested

I remembered someone here asked about a cabriolet W124 when I was at the local concours this weekend. In the "used car corral" there was both a green over tan and a red over tan cabriolet. I took pics of the cars and contact info, both were right around $13-15k as I recall. I do not know either owner or their cars but if you may be interested PM me with your email addy and I'll send them over to you. I am in Portland, OR and assume the cars were both relatively local.

There's no shortage of Cabriolets on the market; they're always on ebay these days. The issue is finding a good one at a fair price with the wiring harness and head gasket done. No accident history would be good as well. I took the plunge last year and have been enjoying my 1995 A124. And for what it's worth, Klaus Kienle and John Olson recently said nice things about this model: http://www.slmarket.com/mercedes-e320-cabriolet-road-trip-to-the-gullwing-group-convention-in-new-orleans-in-a-promising-young-classic/

Finding a low grille 280SE six may be harder than you think if Goodings claim of 200 total built is true. Reference here:
