This 68 280 sl is for sale in Norway for $42.000. I have never seen a centre arm rest pad like this before. And I also thought the center cap for the steering wheel should be either white or black.

This car looks allright, I suppose the arm rest was a DIY aftermarket add-on. Not sure about the center cap, may have been dyed somehow. I don't like the wire wheels that much. The door panels don't look original to me, maybe the interior was redone without using a proper kit.
This is yet another Pagoda that was re-imported back to Europe at some stage. It would be interesting to see how many of the Pagodas currently in Europe were originally sold in the US (I think a lot!). This might give some clue as to how many cars are in the US and Europe these days; as most of you may know, about half the total production was originally exported to the US.

Yes I have seen this before on the Roy Spencer site.  I think it would work better for auto than manual transmissions.

I have a '67 230SL, 4 speed.  I bought it last year and it came with the black vinyl version of the aftermarket armrest shown in the photo.  I personlly like the armrest's position with the gearshift a easy grasp while cruising.  But I also tend to lean right (toward the center) as I drive!

Hauser, that was Klaus Drexl's car. I think that armrest is from a W108 sedan. I know of someone with one for sale, if anyone is interested. I think it was black Tex.
