I saw a post last year by a fellow that was making his own set of luggage to fit neatly behind the seats. I asked him at the time if he would consider selling sets (he posted a picture the colour of the luggage was the same material as the Pagoda seats), he said no he only would make one set once he retired. It did look rather sharp. I think I made a copy of the photo the fellow added to his post, if I find it I'll post it here.

The set was similar in shape (only the cases behind the seat) as the set Alf posted in his link Reply # 24 above, once you click on Alf's link you need to scroll down to Reply # 6 to see the set behind the seats.

I travel light wherever I go be it by car or air. Airlines have lost too many of my suitcases over the years, so I like to keep an eye on things :)

Alfred,

the first thing I do upon waking up is reading your post and replying to it... as usual.. :).

Sadly, I only gathered three or four marks of interest, which was not sufficient to make it viable. Then there was a split among the interested parties whether they would like the luggage as original Pagoda set or a different one. I am myself of opinion that the original one looks less attractive than the one for 190/300SL So, in any case, the project is nowhere, although I have all ingredients gathered: found and excellent crafter able of recreating that luggage, measures, description, several photos of each piece of luggage etc, thanks to the phenomenal help from Members of this forum (got loads of info through PM).

BTW In Willingen there was one car with a fitted luggage behind the seats and it looked like this:

Stan thanks for the photo ... that is the one I mentioned in my Reply #26 (the fellow that said he would make only one set). I wonder where the fellow got this set (in your photo), did you meet him or ask him about it?

I didn't meet the owner of the Pagoda with the luggage set on the pic. While the two pieces are not faithful reproductions of the original set, you can trust me that it was impressive. And they look much better than the original set that, by today's standards - and in my humble view - aren't very sexy.
