It does look a very nice car though. The website looks expensive, I always think that if the prices are poa it means they have to speak to you to justify the price instead of making your own conclusion.

The center instrument cluster seems to be loose in the dash. The steering wheel looks tatty also. And not too sure, but it seems the respray got on some of the rubber trim (bare metal respray?). Perhaps it's fine up close, but the price is not justifiable IMO. Mind you, just checked the going rates in Switzerland and they seem to have gone up another $5-10 K in the last 9 months or so, now the cheapest is around $70,000.

Let's also add the side panels and upholstery that are bended, probably due to mixture ingression. Nothing irreparable, but at such a price one could expect a better treat, frankly...

And there are a number of details wrong in the engine compartment (plating, hood bumpers, clamps etc). The battery cover (from the front) appears to be body color also. I always shake my head when the little details are not there, especially at this price point.

Apart from the painted rocker panel covers in the body colour and matching white seatbelts it looks nicely presented overall.  I reckon the hard top will likely be black in colour.  At that price you don't even get the original radio.

Yeah at that price the seatbelts, radio and rockers should be correct. The original seats should be re-stuffed. The car should need nothing.

My car looks just like that. 140,000 £ -why not just go for a nice round figure like 200 thousand.

Seems like the UK has most of the rocker-panels-in-body-color ones, I don't really see that nearly as often in other countries.

What about this one? Yes it´s mine! The AC it´s new (2011) try to ignore it :-) . I just need to have a good AC because in Portugal we have real hot weather. It was made by kienle in gemany and it can be dismounted very easily.

Wow, this is my old car that I sold to Nicola Colley in London in 2003. Under Nicola's ownership, the motor was changed. Subsequent to that, it must have been repainted. It was a nice car back then. Not $129K nice, but a good, solid driver. A lot of the details that were correct and original have since been altered, but I'm happy to see it's still around.

Looks fantastic, I like the AC unit look. Your dashboard lights look nice and bright too, are they replacements / refurbished bulbs or just the way it shows up in the photo?

I afraid a lot of the people coming in at these price points may not be so interested in details, yet more interested in curb appeal and exclusivity.  Im sure there are buyers out there with plenty of cash who aren't interested in details, but rather how they look tooling around in East Hampton.

When they fail to paint the rocker panels correctly, it's a sign the body shop hasn't worked on one of these before or just doesn't care about originality ... sends me looking for those headlight indentations right away.  But that aside, how can you describe a car as "totally original and unrestored" after it has had a full, bare-metal respray, a replacement radio, a new firewall pad, etc.? Way, way overpriced.

Saw this white rhd car in the flesh.

Howard Wise has some nice cars. But prices are mental. I looked very closely at the european spec light blue car in lhd he had recently. I drove it too. Quality restoration but zero history and he wanted £100k! I heard he sold it to last years Force India f1 driver for £90k.
I would have bought it for £60k...........

This rhd car is an illustration as to how silly the mkt is right now. I will stick with my r107 for now and wait for the winter. Things are a little nuts and it won't last.

Too much free cash in the economy.

A w113 is a nice car, don't get me wrong, but it is not a rare car. Even with special options.

I remember in late 1980s when ferrari 328gts would sell for £100k soon after they sold new by dealers for £45k.. The whole thing crumbled and i bought a mint one in 2000 for £20k.

My porsche 993 c2s 'rare' manual doubled in value in 3 years and if i still had my 964rs, i could (almost) stop working. ;)
All my cars have gone up. Even my 1973 fiat 500 (like new) is worth a lot. I don't care. I think it's crazy.

The car market in Europe and specially in the uk is nuts. It can't last. Bluechip like ferrari 250s will always be worth a lot. So will 300sl gullwings and roadster. The rest is just waiting for a pullback. In my own humble opinion.

Funny, you go to all that work and cheap out on the carpet.  It doesn't even fit well.  But, we've waioted a long tiome for the value of these girls to climb.  In 1999,  I couldn't believe someone would pay 3X more for a 190SL than a 280SL.  $30k vs $10K.  Now where are they? They seem to be more balanced in price, but where are they compared to a 300SL or a new SL?  If you can buy a new one for 100K how much is a 50 year old one worth?  If I sold mine, what would I replace it with?  When I drive up the freeway, I have young guys yelling "Wow man, Beautiful car!"   And a new benz will be right behind me.  They aren't saying that about new ones.

Gary, you are so right, I've driven ///m3's and Z4's for almost 10 years (all together 7 ... 3 new and 4 used ones) and have had more comments in the short while that I drive my Pagoda then in all the years I drove my Bimmers LOL

And to think I only drive the Pagoda here and then ... My Bimmers were Daily Drivers. :)

Generally rarity of an item does get a lot more attention. 

Newer bimmers M3s. M5s etc, or Mercs even AMGs are very common with the new SLS Gullwing being an exception whilst being a new and current vehicle still draws lots of attention from many onlookers, elderely and young alike.

I hear from reliable source that the car mentioned by the OP is being restored by cardock classics in Dublin.
Apparently the latest star Mercedes restorer at the Essen show earlier this year.

FWIW, I do not think that the pictures in the link are those of the finished article...
