Hi Group,
A "Pagoda mystery" has been solved!
:
Examining my
230 SL, Catalog A from 1963 (only ilustrated spare parts, neither part numbers nor written descriptions), I noticed a drawing which is not in later spare parts list, and that seemed like the "famous" hood rubber bumper which part number and originality always were a mystery here:
Knowing then where to search it in the big
230 SL Spare Parts List (Edition C, 1967), I found that part number and description (Group 68/1, page 401, just before part numbers of the under dash covers):
000 987 91 35 - Covering, rubber 50 mm long, order by the meter (at front end, rear top / an Vorbau hinten oben). Quantity: 3So according to this, we can affirm that:
- At least all 230 SL had these hood bumpers
- They were only 3 (some vintage photos show 4)
- They were 50 mm long each
Maybe some member with a
250/280 SL Spare Parts List could find now that part number there, and confirm if all W113 had these hood bumpers (I guess the part number -without drawing- should be in a similar place of the list)
Regards,
