Stuttgart - main Museum or Classic Centre?
« on: March 06, 2014, 19:15:48 »
I will have ~2 hours free in Stuttgart in a few weeks time and would like to go to either the MB Museum (Mercedesstraße 100 70372 Stuttgart) or to the Classic Centre (Stuttgarter Straße 90
70736 Fellbach). They are only 10 minutes apart but will probably only have time to go to one.

Which venue should I head for? I have looked on the websites but still can't quite work out how they differ.  :-[

TIA,

Julian

Hi,
the Mercedes Classic Center is more or less a shop where you can buy vintage cars (oldtimer and youngtimer) and can get information about them.
The museum is a huge exebition about Mercedes history and their developments and cars along the world history.
I would prefer the museum, it's outstanding but 2 hours maybe very short.

With two hours I would head to the museum.  Take the elevator to the top and set your own pace back to the 1st floor.  You should visit their web site  http://www.mercedes-benz-classic.com/content/classic/mpc/mpc_classic_website/de/mpc_home/mbc/home/museum/home.flash.html  to do a little planning and don't forget to leave a little time for the gift shop. ;)

I have been to both and what ever you decide I am sure you will enjoy the visit.

There is also an app you can load onto your iPhone/iPad. Not sure if there is android version. Will be going there for the first time this summer and really looking forward to it. Going to stop by and see Peter H again up in Enkirch too. Wish we could bring our SL along:-)

I agree with Norm and Wolfgang. When  I was there in 2009 I first went to the Classic Centre. Few nice cars in the showroom area, as said it is a shop in the back. Go straight to the museum and take the elevater to the top. Cars you would see at the Classic Centre you will see here as well.

Enjoy!

Good Choice.
I was there in August at both places. Go to the museum and start at the top floor . You will go down in a circle for each floor.
Just start at the top and walk fast in a clockwise motion and before you know it you will be at the ground floor.
Of course stop a moment or two at any place that sparks you interest
When I was there in 1972 this museum did not exist. They did a great job with old cars and cars ,trucks and buses I never knew existed.

The classic center is only good for rebuilders. They will help you with any detail questions.
They even sent me to an upholsterer nearby, where I ordered rugs for my 280SL.
Have a good trip.
