Add Power Steering

Is there any reason why power steering can't be retro-fitted to a 1966 230 SL which does not have it at the moment?

Then there is the question of where to source the kit preferably second-hand.

Has any forum member done this that could offer any tips?

The short answer to this is Yes, it can be done. contact Jim Villers a member of this Group who recently wrote up an article in the Group Magazine that explained in detail how he did this on his car.

Use the search function. There's plenty of information on here about how to do it.
Most of the parts can be sourced from a saloon of the period (280SE for example) but you will need to shorten your steering column by 40mm.
Whether it's difficult or not depends on the skills of whose doing it!

Would also suggest if you are going to use a W108 unit you look through Andy Burn's posts or contact him as he researched this subject meticulously and found you need a W113 power steering pitman arm.
