Option code 460 ??
« on: February 09, 2014, 19:50:57 »
What is Option Code 460? I cannot find it in our Technical Manual, the Japanese or the German listings.
The car in question is a W111.

Alfred, what I read for code 460 is "dark russet" for the period Jan 1 , 1963 to Dec 31, 1968.  Does that make sense for the W111?

Hi Marcus,
this code is actually 460U, that is, a paint code identical to what we show in the manual as 460 G.

I posted my question on  Pagodentreff and fortunately a member there provided the answer:
"460 Zündkerzen für Touristen - USA ab 01.11.1962 bis 31.10.1968"
"Spark plugs for tourists" - makes sense since the car was bought through the European delivery program and was picked up in Germany. It also has code 663 "50 liters of fuel" to allow the new owner a few km to find a gas station.

{sorry, I forgot to send the tumbler wafers, they'll go out next week}

Alfred,

I just got a very, very cool brochure about the option codes (from Martijn) and it also lists 460 option code as "wegfall olkuhler" or cancellation of the oil cooler. It also listed it as "bis 31.10.1966" or up to 31 October 1966.

When I am back in the States you can scan through it, and it is in German.
