280 SL R & R radiator

Gents,
Now that I found a local well recommended radiator shop, I am about to tackle the unhappy task of removing it from my 1970 280SL 4-speed. Can it be done without removing the hood? If not from above, then how about from below? I am terrified that I won't be able to realign the hood (even if I mark it) or that I'll drop it or chip it. The paint is IMHO perfect and I'd rather not risk it.

Yes, it can and very easily. You'll need either to do it over a pit or get some decent height on the front of the car. It's not a hard job.

If you have an overheating problem, then you should be doing an engine chemical flush as well as the radiator, something that the radiator workshop can do as without it just a radiator change is not fully going to fix any heating problem

So, yes to R&R from below?
And, no, no overheating problem at all, just a noticeable antifreeze spot when parked which bothers me every time I walk into the garage.
Also, while at it, I intend to replace both the bottom (especially) and the top hoses. Any particular aftermarket supplier (eg., Bud's Benz) recommended?

Yes, you can drop the rad from below as James mentions, you just need some height, so do it from a lift, over a pit or jack up the front end (make sure it is well supported) so you have enough clearance to get the rad out.  Buds is fine for the hoses, as are probably most of the MB parts suppliers and the MB Classic Center.

Thank you all. I do have a lift, so that's how it'll be done. I mentioned BUD's because I've dealt with them before and it's been a good experience.
