Tool kit
« on: April 11, 2014, 00:28:04 »
I am trying to piece together a tool kit and have some confusion on the wrenches. In the Tech. Man., it spells out a 14/11. Lately on ebay, several claim to be original but, have a 13/11. Which makes more sense since there is already a 17/14. I have not seen a 14/11.  Am I looking for Bigfoot?

Hi Clayton,

Go to the Technical Manual (click above), then enter  Tool Kit in the Search Box you will see Tool Kit as one of your selections then click on it an you will find all your answers and more.

PS. I'm doing this from my iPad and it de s not allow me to copy the link ... Sorry, I know you will find it. :)

Anyway you should have four (4) wrenches, sizes 8/10, 11/14, 14/17, 17/19, supplied by Dowidat, Heyco, Matador and/or Unior.

Clayton,

You are right, having two wrenches with 14mm and none with 13mm does not make sense at all.
The four wrenches you need are 8/10,  11/13, 14/17 and 17/19.
As I see it the technical manual is not correct regarding this and should state 11/13 instead of 11/14.
The 11/13 wrench is usually made by Dowidat or Matador.

This has to do with an overall change in the standardising, the so called DIN specifications (Deutsche Industrie Normen).
The standard nut size for a M8 bolt was 14mm, but, in 1965 or so this was changed to 13mm. This saves room when designing parts, and also some weight.
Anyway, before the change, there was no need for a 13mm wrench since it would not fit anywhere  ;)
Thus, this change was reflected in the contents of the Pagoda tool roll.

Clayton,

Let me know what you are missing. I have a bunch of misc wrenches, screwdrivers etc. I pieced together a tool kit years ago, and had to collect a bunch of left over stuff.
