I am looking to buy some rear bumpers for my 69. They do not have the holes for the guards. Is it as simple as drilling the holes and bolting them on or are the non-hole type a different shape?

The bumpers are the same on all of the pagodas. The cars were shipped from the factory without any provision for bumper guards. The guards were made for MB North America and installed at the dealership as part of the new car prep.

The factory picture attached below verifies this...  The red car on the left has US headlights and side markers, but no bumper guards attached. As W114/115 are on the assembly line, pic is post-Jan 1968 (i.e. we see a 280SL/8).
