The chase

I was pulling out of my road when I saw a flash of pagoda at a junction about 100 yards away.
I gave chase, but as I was in my works van I had little chance to keep up.
I eventually caught up at a traffic light and managed a quick chat.
The driver pulled over around the corner and I was able to get a few details and some photos. A very dark maroon colour rhd 280. Looked stunning.
The owner, Jim, is not a member but will hopefully soon join and furnish us with some more details.
It turns out the owner lives about a mile from me and he knows of two more pagodas pretty much within walking distance from his house.
So four pagodas within a mile or so. What are the odds!

We went for a drive a few days later and saw one of the other cars in the owners drive. Silver, blue roof and private plate. Anyone here?
Hopefully we can go out for a drive as a "foursome" so to speak.

Busted.

Lovely to meet you and one of your Pagodas, Ifty...feared you were trying to mug my daughter and I when you flagged us down - just like being back in Sunderland in the '80's!

I must admit to having lurked around this forum a couple of years ago before taking the plunge and buying mine, but now you have lured me out.

It certainly is a Pagoda-rich environment around here, with plenty of them around Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross & Marlow, not to mention a lot of classic Mercs driving to the area to see Gavin and Paul at Roger Edwards just down the road in Amersham. Clearly a discerning bunch in here South Buckinghamshire....

Mine is a fair-weather Dunkelbraun W113, born 45 years ago next week. Always kept nice and warm and dry at home until the sun comes out. I just love the smell, the sound, the touch and, of course, the look of it....a class apart from the vulgarity of modern Porsche, Ferraris, Astons - and dare I say - More recent SL's.

Cheers,
Jim

Hi Jim,

Welcome to the group , it is good to see when a Pagoda is seen and noted here in the Group that the person comes in and has a look.  As you said you had lurked for some time as a lot of us have done prior to purchase.

Remember to ask questions and post photos, everyone loves to see different owners pride and joy in every state of repair. Who knows maybe some day you will like to join as a full member.

You people are so very fortunate to have so many Pagodas around and opportunities to breakfast or lunch together.

Up until a few weeks ago, I thought I was alone with my Pagoda in Quebec City.  Then JPinet contacted me.  He lives about 30 minutes away.  Then just yesterday I met another in the middle of the Pont de Quebec, going the opposite direction.  I couldn't possibly chase him down.  I now just have to wait and hope to see him again.  The only other nearest one that I know of is in Montreal - 200 miles away.

Oh well...

I have a very serious case of garage envy Jim.
I'm sure a couple of photos of your pride and joy at "home" would be appreciated.

Looks a beauty Jim - sits nice and high.  Too many of them ride a bit low on their haunches
