New toy/tool, Laser welder

I bought this tool to use in my fine jewelry design and repair business.  I have been working w/ the laser welder now for about a month. Unbelievable capabilities.  I can now weld with virtualy no heat on any metal.  I can adjust the weld diameter from .2-2mm and the weld time can be set between 2-20 miliseconds.   I've used it on gold, platinum, stainless, brass and even plastic.  I'm just beging to see the possibilities.  If anyone has any small parts that need welding/filling I may be able to help.

Aloha Jim. Just a thought but would that be perfect for welding the little arm back onto the glove box door? Mine is missing, and I have been told that the only way to get the arm back on and have it be strong is to weld it. Was told it would be difficult to do.

Sounds like a really cool tool! I think we all will be interested to hear if it might work for the glovebox door. There might be application for the little tabs and things that break off, and you hear "Looks like you need a new one" or even worse "NLA"

Bob, @ 30K it is a real tool.  Ash try tabs would be a snap, shouldn't be a problem w/ the glove box door eather.  The only limitation is the size of the welding chamber, though the floor of the chamber can be removed and longer items may be fitted from below.

I will add my voice to the chorus that this sounds great.  I have been using a Weller for years, but have yet to see a laser soldering gun.  Is this a generic tool now, or is this specifically only available from a single supplier?

This is not a soldering gun.  The unit is a high power fully computerised hight tech tool and measures about
4 'Lx3'Hx2'W The unit I have is made by Crawford Equipment.  They are the only US made lazer welder units.  Most are sold to medical equipment manufactures, Dental labs and other high tech specialised manufactures.  The jewelry industry has been using them for about five years now.  As a 30 year jewelry designer/manufacture I use it for many steps for the fabrication and repair of fine jewelry.  The possible uses are pretty exciting.
