Dip Stick Measurement
« on: May 29, 2014, 01:52:46 »
I bought my 67 230 SL with M130 Engine which was replaced by the previous owner. However, the dip stick does not seem to belong to M130. The dip stick has several markings; the last one is labeled 230/250. Can anyone tell me which mark corresponds to the M130? Also, I would like to know the height in inches of Cm of the oil in the oil pan. Thank you.

Hi,
see here: http://www.sl113.org/wiki/Engine/Dipstick
...WRe

While thus is a nice write up in our Tech. Manual and picture, it does not mention if it is the engine or transmission dip stick. I know it is the engine dip stick :) still it would be nice if the Tech. Manual would say so.

PS. My last three BMW's had no dip stick, I hated that since I like to see, feel and smell my engine oil when I check it. The missing BMW dip stick was often a hot subject in the BMW ///m3 forum.
