Please: enlighten me! Buying a Hulk.
« on: May 18, 2014, 08:32:09 »
I know our cars are worth money, but I don't get paying close to 15K$ for a completely burned out and rusty wreck with no engine or transmission.

How can you make money rebuilding this if you are to sell it? And rebuilding it costs way more money than buying a decent good one.

We know what parts cost. What does a buyer do with this? Just keep the shell maybe, with rust repairs?

Opinions?

Sale has ended but link is still active: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171318475831?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I think it was purchased for the body parts. Perhaps the fellows car was in a massive accident and he found this to rebuild his car.  ???

I'm not seeing $15,000 in parts, but someone is.  If they pay.   I don't think anyone is going to make money on that one.

It's Back!!!

seeing this often on ebay ...  it's SOLD, but then ... not really and they come back on Ebay or elsewhere. This time on craigslist.  Have sellers figured out how to bid up?  Is that what's going on?

Same seller, just Craigslist this time.  Out of his head.   Same seller has listed or sold every single piece of that car that wasn't destroyed and now what he has is $400 of scrap metal.

The trouble is, the right front chassis rail with the associated vehicle documents is easily worth $15k to the unscrupulous.
I've been offered a couple of cars like this by dodgy people with a nod and a wink but I'll have nothing to do with them.

I'm guessing you mean to turn a stolen car into this car?  I suppose that could be cost-effective.  But it would seem no one on ebay thought it was worth it.  What an unpleasant thought...
