5 speed automatic transmission - is there an option?
« on: June 18, 2014, 14:19:19 »
Hi,

I am new at this so sorry if i am going over old ground but could not find an answer on here.

Does anyone know of a 5 speed auto transmission that fits into our cars with minimum alterations? Getrag maybe?

Given the success of the manual upgrade is there an automatic option?

Would like to upgrade for quieter ride on motorways but do not want to alter the car in any way that is not easily reversible.

Thank you

A five speed auto conversion would be expensive. The easier route is to change the rear diferential ratio by changing the diff. There are ots of posts on the subject to lower the final drive.  It would be the simplest way and reversible. Lots have done it.l

1 503-781-5255, call Martin at this number in Austin.  He has a gertag 6 speed conversion kit. I rode in his 230 recently and really liked this modification.

Is that an automatic? The OP wants an automatic.
