Glove Box Contents given to me
« on: September 25, 2014, 20:40:49 »
I got very lucky !
Last weekend I contacted the person I bought my car from.
I purchased the car 5 years ago from the original owner's family.
As it turned out she had found some items she wanted to give to me because they belonged with the car.
The glove box manual I received at the time of purchase, but these were some other items that were separated from the car, and clearly haven't seen the light of day for 44 years.
Check out the pictures of what I got.
 :)
This was very nice of her !

Very nice indeed Mark. Great to "reunite" some of the original documentation that came with your car.

Lassie came back home, indeed. Neat!

Come to think of it, I worked on my pagoda a few weekend ago and the neighbor down the street pulls in, introduces himself and gives me the service manual for 230/250SL - he saw me working on the car and the manual was sitting in his garage since he got the house (20 years or so). He figured I could have some use of it. Definitely made my day!

Thanks guys for your appreciation !
I knew I could count on the forum for some enthusiasm.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets blank stairs from non-Pagoda people when tell them exciting stories such as this !   :)
I had seen pictures of these items on the forum and 49er had sent me pictures of them too, so I didn't need to do any research after I had them in my hands to know they were special.

By the way, my service book only has three entries.
The last one was on February 11, 1971 at 11,700 miles.
The car was purchased April 30, 1970, so that is definitely daily driver miles.
Thanks again.

Did your treasure trove include the plate used to expedite service write ups? That would be a bonanza.

Gus, Nope, it did not include that metal plate. But, I have the one for my Camaro. In Camaro-speak it is called a "Protect-O-Plate", and I can tell you it means a lot more for my Camaro than it would for my Pagoda. For the Camaro it is like the Data Card !!
But, I agree, it would be fantastic to have it.

mario, Thanks, yea it was really nice to get that pouch specifically. I haven't seen too many nice ones come up for sale. But, I can see you are a Newbie to the forum, so you should have a look around. There are many many more interesting stories out there.

Enjoy the ride !

This prompted me to look properly through my pack... I found the service book which I thought I never had... Sadly it has no entries :(
