Hello to all.
Now that Cathy and I are settled into retirement it is time to plan our 5th Texas Pagoda Event.
For those of you who are full members of the sl113.org organization and received the last issue of Pagoda World (issue # 14) I hope you enjoyed the article on our previous event at the The Houston Museum of Fine Arts, Bayou Bend.
Since we now live in Wimberley, TX, in the Texas Hill Country (between Austin and San Antonio), we can attest to the fantastic roads and many venues that are available to add to the enjoyment of owning a Pagoda.
Our invitation this years is the following:
When – Friday thru Sunday September 19th – 21st.
Where – Wimberley, TX
The Plan – Arrive either Friday evening or Saturday morning.
Friday Evening – Dinner planned for The Leaning Pear (time TBD but expecting 7 – 7:30 pm, actual venue and details to be established after the number of expected attendees is known)
Saturday Morning – Gather for breakfast at the Cypress Creek Café 9 am, visit and check out the eclectic collection of shops in Wimberley
Saturday Noon – leave for a Hill Country Drive to Blanco, TX to the Uptown Café for lunch (details to be confirmed later) (Lunch approximately 1 pm)
Saturday Afternoon leave Blanco for another Hill Country Drive to Wimberley Glass to view a glass blowing exhibition and visit their retail showroom (Arrive Wimberley Glass approximately 3:30 pm)
Saturday Evening arrive Dick’s Classic Garage for a cruise in. Live music, available food, free admission to the museum (approximate time 5 – 8 pm)
Sunday Morning – gather for breakfast in San Marcos, TX TBD – expecting around 9 am
Return Home
Costs – costs are all on an individual basis for meals, lodging, etc.
By the way.... The specific week-end was determined to coincide with Dick’s Classic Car Museum’s Cruise In as well as my best guess on weather. With “El Nino” expected to affect our weather patterns this year, more rain is expected in October and November. Also, this is a “rain or shine” event, but, except for your own room reservations, there is no monetary commitment involved. For those that would like to gather at a local pub for music and additional revelry, I have some thoughts on possible venues for Saturday evening after the cruise in.
So....... Please check your calendars, review the information below and let us know if you are interested in attending.
Once we have an estimate of the number of people interested in this event I will provide more detail information and confirm activities.
