Window guide installation

I have read where this installation is done by first epoxying a thin felt to the glass, letting that cure, then gluing the aluminum guide to the felt. Why is this defined in two steps., e.g. why can't the felt and guide be epoxied at the same time?

No need for a two-step; see:

Any good two-part epoxy glue will do.

Thanks very much. I had already installed the guides on both windows by using a felt and 2-part epoxy in one step. On the drivers side door glass, I apparently left the guides too far apart (not snug against the glass edge) and the window wouldn't fit between the channels. (Arrgh) I used a heat gun (and a lot of time) to break the epoxy down and remove the guides so I could more carefully reinstall them. I couldn't imagine why doing the felt 1st then the guide 2nd was important. Thanks very much!
