Need alignment specs
« on: September 05, 2004, 17:24:31 »
I've had trouble getting the alignment done on my 66 230 SL, does anyone have the alignment specs?

Thanks

Use the search function, type in 'alignment' there is a topic on tracking camber and casting, that has the specs listed (as taken from the 1969 technical data booklet)

As the alignment measures originate off the rear wheels, I always set the rear axle centering spec first on swing axle Benzs..
Very few pay any attention to this spec...
For 113 , the spec is 42mm , + /- 2  offset to the right of chassis longtitudal centerline , in direction of travel.

Which, simply put, means you want the center of your pivot bolt hex head to be 42mm to the right of the chassis center-line.
The adjuster is the cross link nuts.
Center line is easily found by dropping plumb bob from the 2 centering reference Bores in the chassis frame.

Or, just make a tool fixture.[ see somewhere here in archieves]
Some can guess at this distance , but I prefer it to be factory..
