Winter storage
« on: December 07, 2014, 00:32:36 »
The days are waning, and winter is growing. The German lady is now safely stored in my mother's garage (at the expense of her Mitsubishi..), where it will remain dry and safe for the next five months or so. I can barely wait for that feeling when taking it out for the first spin in spring  :)

One more, I dare say it looks rather handsome in B&W when the water is pearling!

Winter is when my car comes out of the garage as the temperature is between 17C to 27 C. Sunny almost all days with 2 or 3 days of rain if at all. Summer the car stays in the garage ( I am in the process of installing air conditioning ) as the ambient temperature rises to above 50C with very high humidity. Very uncomfortable.

Happy days are here again

Thanks, Garry. Thanks also for the membership package which was duly received a while back - the Pagoda SL Group stickers are now on the front windshield and hardtop.

Nice photos, Rob. Sometimes b&w brings out lines and certain details better. Is this your red SL?

Dubai seems like an altogether different world, Nirmal! I tore out the old air conditioning on the previous US Pagoda I had, it would rarely come to good use here..

Having spent most of my adult life outside Norway (even in places nearly if not as warm as you describe), I would still not give up the Scandinavian summer for anything. I'd take your winter over our winter, though - any day. Not so much because of the cold, but lack of daylight rather. Guess I have softened up while abroad  :)

Hopefully these two photos are not in conflict with any forum rules (no German vehicle at sight..!), it shows a Telemark mountain lake in July and October respectively. Should be all white soon.

My Italian Stallion wintered in a heated commercial garage in New York City.

I did nothing to it, just put it away under a car cover.

To keep the "juices" flowing and the battery happy, about once a month on a "warm'" Winter day (say above 45 degrees), I'd take it out for a drive on a highway for a while. Then put it back for hibernation.

This monthly run served me well...for all its years, the Pagoda was always ready for its Spring roll out.
