Our favorite Canadian rabble-rouser Dan Caron is having a 60th birthday party, and you're invited!

When:   Saturday December 13 2014
 
Where:   The One-Room School House across from 477 French, Line Port Lambton, Ontario. Yes, this is the school house across from Dan's home that he once attended. Rumor has it despite being across the street he was often late for school!
 
Open House:    3:00-5:30pm
 
Dinner:               6:00pm
 
Entertainment:    7:00pm
 
BYOB (bring your own libations...)
 
Best wishes only...that means no gifts are required. However it's a sure set-up for great gag gifts!

Oh I so want to come meet this character who has been so helpful to me over the years via email and over the phone.  I can't make it to that side of the continent but wish Dan a fantastic 60th Birthday.     Yay Dan !!!!!

Dieter and I live about an hour away from Dan's shop, and my Pagoda is there, now, too. I don't get there nearly as often as I'd like; it's never a dull day when I visit the shop.

Just called your house and talked to your wife, she informed me you are across the way in the old school house from your house and the Benzbarn You are proberly looking after your guests and getting the table ready for dinner (as demonstrated in the birthday card below). Sorry again I could not make, the timing is just not right.

If any of you were at Dan's this past evening, I didn't recognize you and I apologize for that. There were about 30 folks there, mostly local friends & family. First an open house in the shop, which I must say looked more like an exhibit hall on this occasion than I have ever seen it before. Then a good old community pot luck dinner in the 19th century schoolhouse that Dan's family restored. That must have been a lot of work, so old Mercedes cars are not the only worthy heritage that Dan maintains. The evening continued with guitar playing by one of Dan's many friends named Dave.

Thanks everyone.
 I know I haven't been around very much lately but there are some good reasons for my absence. My father passed away last summer and I have a lot more on my plate as I've increased my acreage from 175 to 425. I plan to run the farm for about 5 years and if my health holds out, until I'm 70. My father worked until he was 87 so I figure I'm good until then.

The shop has never been more busy and we are working on 12 projects right now - I don't like to turn anyone away. We are renovating the homestead next door and I expect to be moved in shortly. Lots on my plate but I'm happy running the whole show with some really good help.

Just a note:
the food at the party was all prepared by Shelley - she can cook.
Yes, it's true Mike. I was often late for school.

I hope to get more time to post but I doubt I'll be as active as I once was.  I also hope to be able to do some of my Benz Dr. tour over the next couple of years.

Happy Belated Birthday Dan!!   I haven't been on this site much in the past couple of years!!   I will be returning soon!   Too much work has forced me just to drive my Pagoda (and 3.5 Cab) enough to keep them running well.   :'(
