250SL Jump Seat Question
« on: February 02, 2015, 21:34:31 »
I have noticed many photos of 250SL's with jump seats.  Apparently my 250SL never had them.  Is it possible to retro-fit or install jump seats?  Does anyone know why they all were not fitted with jump seats?  Any discussion about jump seats vs no jump seats appreciated!
Thank you

The ‘jump seat’ also known as the Kinda or Kinder Seat was an option on all Pagodas.  They are fitted as an alternate to the two part wooden shelf in the rear and can be easily retrofitted if required, needing the carpet also replaced as it was also a special fit but in the world of 2015, safety would probably preclude anyone sitting in them as being legal even with a seat belt being sitting sideways.

There is lots of discussion on the subject

I thought hard and long about putting a Kinder seat in my car so I could carry both kids at once.  I even went so far to start cutting wood panels to make the seat and I bought a seat belt to fit.    Then the issue of safety came up and I started to find more and more people who took them out just to remove the temptation to put their kid back there.  A small rear ender could have devastating results.

My kids take turns in "Dad's white princess" one at a time and it has worked out fine.  A bit of "one on one" is always good.
