Automatic Transmission 280SL's with Constant Speed Solenoids
« on: February 17, 2015, 21:53:16 »
Hello Members,

This post applies to late model 1970-71 280SL's with Automatic Transmission, Air Conditioning, and Constant Speed Solenoids.
Trying to determine correct wire color(s) connected to the "Constant Speed Solenoid".
I have studied both wiring diagrams available on this site - Unfortunately, the only applicable diagram for my late model 280SL (US Version) is Black & White - Joachim Ahlert’s Color Diagram does not apply entirely to my vehicle.

So far, I've seen several 280SL's each with different wire color combinations.
(Image Below depicts Green/Red/Yellow/ and perhaps Solid Brown, Brown/White or Brown/Black it is unclear based on photograph)

What is the Color(s) of the wires connected to your Constant Speed Solenoid?

Thanks,
Walter

On my early 250 SL, black with a green stripe and red spiral, green with a red spiral.
I take it your 280 SL has A/C. My 280 SL (12730) has the solenoid mounted but it is not connected, in these cars the constant speed solenoid is only used with the A/C.
