I have read in some books and in the information available in the group's page that the final run of the 280SL had a somewhat different engine than previous incarnations. According to the sources, the heads were different and not interchangeable. It seems also that the decal (sticker) fixed to the cam cover changed at the same time.
Question: can the group help in identifying these please? is there a known production date when this happened? are there any markings on the heads? was this change for both European and US versions or just one of the markets?
Many questions but I don't think there is a better source of information than the members on this forum so I would appreciate your assistance
