Fuel Pump Bypass
« on: March 13, 2015, 02:03:48 »
I am in the process of renewing my fuel pump (short version), must be >20 years old in there.
Currently, there is no fuel bypass hose on my pump. If i'm not mistaken, the bypass fitting on my pump currently has a "bleed screw" in the end of it.
I've read that a bypass hose is used when the injection pump outlet valve has no hole.

Questions:
-What is the injection pump outlet valve? Is it the same as the damper? Where would I look to see if it has a hole or not?
-Does anyone have a picture of the fuel pump bypass hose connecting the small pump bypass fitting to the fuel return line? Or perhaps someone could specify the parts used for the bypass, i.e. hose, y-connector, clamps?

Thanks

280SE Guy, Thanks, that helps alot.

For the record,
the part number for the T-piece is 114 476 01 25
the hose is 114 997 18 82 which subs to 230 476 87 26. Of note is that this fuel hose is not the same as the 12mm ID hose (112 476 12 26) that is used elsewhere in the fuel system. The bypass hoses have a smaller ID.
