Heavy Shipping
« on: March 10, 2015, 14:24:25 »
Does anyone have a preferred method to ship in the USA for large heavy objects.  USPS is limited to 70lbs ....UPS is 150lbs but then limited as to size same as fedex ground.  What service have people used with good results.

I have used freightquote.com with good results.  If you go direct to freight companies and you are not a company doing volume business you will get very high quotes.  Freightquote shops your need to major shippers and gets them to compete for your business.

I often used Greyhound for general shipments across Canada, then again they were weight and size limited what they would handle. I once shipped (for one of my Customers) a large machine (disassembled in components) from northern California to British Columbia Canada, I did so by contacting various freight companies that shipped from Canada down to Southern California they then returned empty to Canada. I utilized this trucks and got special rates. Some of the shipments were even wide loads.

Now I know you are not dealing with such large stuff when it comes to our Pagoda :) I point the above out to you to perhaps contact some fraught movers and inquire about your needs.

I've been happy with AES Logistics.  They are forwarders located in the Seattle area who can arrange shipping just about anywhere.  I have shipped and engines and transmissions through them.
