Fairly rare in the SL, but I believe it was the regular kit from MB. It is mounted in the front passenger wheel well.

Hans (saw his at Willingen) - Attached is a photo of the tray where it mounts. Hope you med kit is a bit more complete than the one shown!!

Kevin,
Your First Aid kit is for R107, however, the W113 kits were very similar but with different box, and yes it was attached to passenger side foot well.  The R107 kit was mounted behind the driver on the wooden shelf.

Just to add for the record: upon checking in the EPC, the holders for 113 (280SL) and for 107 have the same part number (without changes or "replaced by"), which is A1158650255.

I have to confess, understanding the potential strong opposition may come to this from the purists, to get for my 1970 280SL the box design generally believed to be proper for W107. I have been looking at dates and models of various car makers as well as the Hartmann items not assigned to any car make and concluded that it might be likely that Hartmann changed the design to the one we know from 107 in the beginning of the 70s. Then Mercedes would use what came from Hartmann, I think a long as it fit the holder.

For 1968 I would use the blue design as Bob is looking for. For earlier - the green design. But that is just my theory.

Waiting for crashing responses :)...

And if there are facts in those responses - I will go and buy the blue one or look for the green one (this one is rare).

This is a bit like the carpet type used in various years - lots of discussions on this. Until I talked to an elder member of Mercedes Benz Classic team in Essen who worked for Mercedes in the 60s. He said: "even if the general type of carpet in given year was a newer one, if someone ordered a colour they had older carpet type on stock - they would use older carpet type. Some colours offered never changed the type of carpet to new one."

Were these only seen in North American Pagodas ?
Manufactured specifically for Mercedes of North America and part no 9008650850 in black or white.
When did this part come out ? would it of been late 1960s or well into the 70s ?
It might of come out too late for a w113 ?

Dave,

I have both the Black with Green cross (above) and the Blue/White.  I am told they are later than the 113, probably 107.  The holders are the same.  The blue and Green ones look earlier than my 1970 SL.

I'll try to learn more.

This is a very rare item .
It was originally supplied to all UK delivered cars in 65.
I wonder how many are left ?
