Correct location of washer fluid pump

I recently bought 1968 280SL and notice that the washer fluid pump is attached to the bottom of washer fluid reservoir.  I am not sure if this is the original design or that the previous owner has modified it. 
Does anyone any picture of where the pump and the reservoir should be properly installed?
