Stan, last year in Febuary when my daughter traveled from London, UK to visit us in London, Ontario Canada she had two objectives. One was to visit her parents of course, the second was to travel to the Universety of Michigan. I accompanied her on this visit and we stayed overnight. While Kim was busy at the Universety giving a lecture I visited Michaeal Salemi. Michaeal was a great host and while I visited at his haus he told me how he traveled to France to discuss the book "Pagoda Style" with Paul Bracq. He then showed me in his study a painting from the Pagoda and when I found out that he had several prints left of the painting I naturally purchased one and it found a permanent place in my "Man Cave"
Paul did not sit in my car, however, Michael meet Paul and once he told me stories about it I somehow feel faintly connected as well. My plan is to ship my Pagoda to Europe in about 1 or 2 years and undertake road trips. I hope to stop by Paul's son shop in Frace while I take trips in France, Spain and Italy the end up in Germany.
I also learned during my visit with Michaeal that Peter our past President sat on the same table in Michaeal's kitchen. Michaeal and I have something special in commen, we both own a Pagoda his is red and mine is blue, both cars bear a VIN number that is only three numbers apart. I visualize that in the later part of 1968 when our cars rolled off the assembly line Michaeal's car must have been three cars behind mine.
Both cars then took on a journey to the USA properly travelled all over the USA and Canada and will meet again this coming September at PUB at Joe's place in Blacklick, Ohio USA. I'm sure if you relate this story to Paul Bracq he would get a kick out of it. We will park both cars beside one another and compare what may have changed over the years and what is original and what is not.
I know you saw the print after it was framed before, I attach a photo of it's final resting place in my Man Cave below. I plan to give my garage a makeover soon, perhaps then it will hang in my renovated garage since I will make it an extension of my man cave. Once I renovated the garage only the Pagoda that I call "The Blue Tornado" will be allowed to park in the garage.
The visit I had with Michaeal was great, I meet his wife and daughter this is what our membership is all about, one meets interesting people.
